Former Five-Gaited World’s Grand Champion, SS Genuine, 33

SS Genuine, Five-Gaited World’s Grand Champion in 2002, passed away peacefully on Sunday, January 26, 2014 at the age of 23.

During his illustrious career, he was shown by Nancy Stolpman, Todd Lindgren, Debbie Foley, Merrill Murray, and Joan Hammond to wins at all the industry’s top shows. Murray rode him to the “big stake” for owner, David C. Nierenberg.  David owned SS Genuine until his passing.

After making his last showring appearance in 2005, winning the Five-Gaited Stallion/Gelding class at the Midwest Charity Horse Show with Debbie Foley up, SS Genuine was retired to Jo Ann Griffin’s farm in Crestwood, Kentucky. There he lived like a king, and was even a wonderful trail mount for Debbie Foley, happy to cross creeks and enjoy the time with his rider.
