Wilbert R. “Bud” Fraser, 89

 

 Wilbert R. “Bud” Fraser, 89, of Kankakee, passed away Saturday (July 4, 2015) at Miller Health Care Center in Kankakee.

 

 He was born Jan. 30, 1926, in Rochester, N.Y., the son of Raymond and Thelma Fraser. Wilbert married Mary Wheeler on Oct. 20, 1955, in Evanston.

 

 Bud was a retired employee of Wheeler Tractor, a graduate of the University of Rochester, a member of the Rotary Club of Kankakee, Crimestoppers and was a court monitor.

 

 He served our country in the U.S. Army during World War II and participated in the Honor Flight.

 As Bud would say, “I’m fine.”

 

 Surviving are his son and daughter-in-law, James and Kate Fraser, of Cape Coral, Fla.; two daughters and sons-in-law, Margo and Todd Valentine, of Willowbrook, and Missy Fraser Skrobuton (John), of Kankakee; one brother and sister-in-law, Gary and Jackie Fraser, of Rochester, N.Y.; and three grandchildren, Brittany Baird, Ashley Baird and Kelsey Fraser.

 

 Preceding him in death were his wife (Jan. 22, 2002); parents; and longtime friend, Jackie Gibbs.

 

 Visitation will be from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. Wednesday at Clancy-Gernon-Hertz Funeral Home, Kankakee. Funeral Mass will be at 11 a.m. Thursday at St. Theresa Catholic Church in Kankakee, with the Rev. Sunny Castillo officiating. Burial will be in Mount Calvary Cemetery in Kankakee.
